Matariki DLO

                                                                          Matariki DLO

Hi bloggers, over the week we have been working on a Matariki DLO. We had to choose a focusing question then find facts about it. Mine was "What is Matariki". One of my facts was how to find the Matariki

We had to watch a video to find out how to find it. I had to write some information about the seven stars because that was one of my main focus.

I chose to do my DLO on a google drawing. I also decided to add a background.

When I added a few facts I had to to write about the stars. We had to make a title and some correct facts to make sens Scroll down to check my DLO.

My Procedure about Cultural Games!

 My Procedure

Hello bloggers, today I will be telling you about my procedural text. On Wednesday we had to make a procedural text about a game, any game. I chose the game of Tag. First we had to use a graphic organiser to plan our writing. Then we had to make sure it had a title, goal, equipment and it had numbered steps. To make it look more like tag I had to add a diagram (an image).

When we finished our plan we had to start writing it on a google doc, which is much different then the drawing so I just copied and pasted everything and added the images.

STEM Week Waikowhai Student led toolkits

                                                                       Toolkits

Hi bloggers on Friday the syndicate had to do a toolkit. There were 24 presenters and 12 toolkits. My favorite one was called Sphero because it had some cool features

The first one I went to was Sphero. If you are wandering what a Sphero is its a ball that you can control, change its colour and more!!! It was a little bit hard to control but I still got the hang of it. Th

e most hardest thing was to keep it away from dirt or grass.

My next toolkit was Word Art where you can customize some words and get a picture were the words will go into, it looks really nice. The first words I did were play station, apple, pear. My photo was a circle. My second one was cat, kind, strong and my photo was a cat.

My last toolkit was Makey Makey were we had a rectangular square box with alligator wires in it. We connected the wires to play dough and we had to hold down the earth button o n the box and tap the play dough and a piano key plays. then we tried it on Lego and that worked. 15 minutes later we went back to class.

I like the student led toolkits idea we hope we do this every term.

Orienteering Practice and Mapping!!!

 Orienteering Practice and Mapping!

Hi bloggers today I will be telling you about orienteering practice  if you don't know what orienteering is it's running but with using your brain. So on Wednesday the orienteering people did some mapping. We had a map and paper listed from A.1 to T.20. We had to look at our map and find A.1 and clip it on to our paper which was really easy but B.2 was going to be hard.

B.2 was at the senior sand pit, the next 5 were on the field. The sixth one was near the giant tree but the next one I was struggling on. Two minutes later finally I found it. The last few where near the pool and the parking lot. I.9 was next to the car and the rest were at the bush and near the pool. I clipped most of it but found up to Q.18 because the bell sadly rang I only needed 3 more.

I loved orienteering practice I'm so excited for zones!!!!

The Spark Arena Trip!!! 😀

                                                       Spark Arena Trip

SPLASH!!! As we jump into the big ball pit. Hi bloggers, today the year sixes went on an amazing trip to spark arena in the city. We were so lucky because it costs 70$ but we had it for free thanks to Brendon Hines the CEO of Spark Arena. We traveled there on bus, it took so long but we knew it would be AWESOME.

When we got there we met a lady her name was Suzy Cato. She led us to the area where we played music the Sounds Fun. We met the CEO of Spark Arena, he talked us through the rules. We first had to wait for the other classes to do their thing then we could do our first thing.

The first thing we did was to go to the Happy Place which is a place with all kinds of fun things to do. When we got inside we saw a cool Porsche. When we arrived to the top we had to go through a cool door which led us to a ball bit. In order to go in the ball pit we had to get in a line then JUMP into the ball pit. A while later I went down a small slide which was pretty cool. Then we went in a room with mirrors which was hard for us to see where were going, there was also a bath with rubber ducks we went in and took photos. Finally we went into a confetti room and we were playing and throwing confetti at each other. 10 mins later we had to get out and go to our next place.

The next thing we had to do was to go inside the place we started the Sounds Fun place. We had to use the instruments. The first one I used was a trumpet I was pretty good at it after I finished I decided to go to the electric drums. I was also really good at it but I had a few mistakes, the way you use, It's just like the real drums. But a little different because there was head phones and we hit the drum at the time the TV says. I also played a piano game where it was the same as the drums but it had a key board and buttons. Finlay we got a sticker and could go to our next stop.

The next place had interesting pictures to look at, it was pretty cool. Then we had to go to another place but with big screens showing pictures that a famous artist named Van Gogh painted. It took such a long time but then 30 minutes later we could go through a place with flowers and back out to the exit and on to our final thing.

At the end we had a lunch bag for FREE I was very grateful and lucky. In the lunch there  was an apple, a sandwich with juice and chips. After we finished the yummy food we could go back to school.

I loved spark arena I hope I can go there AGAIN!!!!!

Under the wires

 Under the wires

I cant feel my legs!!!! On  a suspicious Wednesday, Te Waka Ako had to spend the whole day under wires. At first I felt so scared. We were not allowed to poke our heads up over the wires only crawling cause if a teacher can see you cheating you will be shot. We have ten points if you lose them all you have to be a servant.

The first thing we did was a basic facts test but the twist was there was loud gun fire to distract us. Then we did some more Anzac math.  The second thing we did was to write a letter to our family and an acrostic poem. After morning tea we had to go swimming after swimming I was soaked.

Back at class we had to draw what the teacher said for e.g if she says we had to land at Gallipoli then we had to draw us landing at Gallipoli. Then it was lunch time play and eating, my head was up so I got shot. Then it was are last task we had to wear a blind fold and unravel the wires then we can stand up and go home.                                                  At the end it made me feel like an ANZAC soldier.

Fish in a tree

             Fish in a tree

Ki ora bloggers our teacher has been reading us a book called, fish in a tree for teacher read. The book is about having a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. The main character is called Ally Nicklelson. She has dyslexia but that doesn't stop her from trying.

In class we have been creating a sketch book of impossible things because Ally did it to. My one was about a fearsome dinosaur having a cup of coffee. It sounds weird because cups weren't invented when dinosaurs were alive. We had to decorate the front and the back with coloring pencils.
